Selwyn fall, but promising start

After the draw was eventually finalised, we had our opponent: Caius.

We knew it would never be easy, but we were in this race for one thing, and one thing only; we needed to get experience of racing with another crew right there beside us, when it really mattered if the technique fell apart and we couldn't pull it back together.

Our first two strokes were a little less perfect than they should of been, and Caius pounced, taking a seat or two straight away, but we held fast, and stayed with them... then we realised that racing the course at what we'd gone off at was unsustainable for us! Caius progressed away further, as the faster boat, but our technique didn't fall apart, and the pressure was held firmly. It was good to see Caius progress right through to the final, and we need to work on getting the boat shifting on those vital first few strokes, but we're happy that in general, our start itself is right up there. Now to deal with the rest of Bumps' requirements!
