Over-bumping is the Caius to success...

May Bumps (Thursday)

After an unfortunate misjudgement with the length of chain, we struggled to position ourselves on the start - meaning a quick back down by stern pair and an even quicker stroke by 2 to try to get us in line before the gun went off.
After the gun, we had to use our start to align ourselves with what most people would consider the normal route up the river. We had very little time to really get into a rhythm before Emma gained their first whistle. After that it was pretty much holding them off as long as possible, which wasn't all that long in the end - we were bumped before grassy.
But! Tomorrow heralds greater things for our ever weary VIII. King's II who caught us on the first day were destroyed by Caius III in a spectacular over bump this very afternoon. Meaning tomorrow we are again chased by a tired and disgruntled King's boat which, now having the advantage of two members of our boat no longer being impeded in their physical state, means we can give a valiant and possibly final effort to not be bumped consecutive days. Hold your breathe and prepare, we certainly are.
