May Bumps (Saturday)

Selwyn M1 would like to tell you the truth about today. We would like to say that we had a phenomenal start, coming out at a strong 47, closing to overlap just before grassy, pushing our bowball past Robinson's cox into the entrance to grassy and Ben's blade hitting the stern to claim us the bump.

Unfortunately, CUCBC umpires were the two people on grassy who failed to observe this fact. CUR saw it, as did the video cameras on grassy, and the rest of the spectators. Robinson M1 saw it. Our bank party saw it. Ben felt it. Matt saw it. Matt felt it.

After giving everything to gain our length and a half plus the 6 feet to get bow past cox to gain our legitimate bump (or bow's blade hitting stern... I'll accept either), we were spent. The power dropped off down the reach, and we were bumped at the other end of the boat this time by Peterhouse.

I could have asked no more from this crew, with a start better than yesterday's, and a race perfectly executed. It would seem ironic that Robinson will apparently be receiving a fine for failure to concede, yet Selwyn will not be granted the bump, and pours salt in the wound to then be bumped.
