Today we were chasing St Edmund's. Considering our utter annihilation of Jesus III yesterday (my birthday) we knew we were either going to bump or row over. The bump was a definite possibility - Eddies denied us the double-over bump on Thursday so we were itching for revenge. However, Eddies would not be the large amount of fail that had pretty much defined Jesus yesterday. This would take a bit more stamina instead of the all-out for 300m that had succeeded so well on Friday.

Our practice start was solid and tidy and lent us confidence. The row up was tidy and we pulled off those sexy pauses that had so intimidated Jesus 3 the day before. Eddies didn't gain on us despite rowing continuously, but they didn't disappear into the distance the way Jesus had.

The cannon went and we were off. Our start was quick and strong and we quickly pulled away from Jesus 3. Unsurprisingly, Jesus 3 were quickly bumped by Cats then behind that ARU were bumped by Clare Hall. However, we wanted the bump, not the row over so we kept up the pressure and the pace, settling at around 33. The most notable thing was that our bank party lost the whistle. Laura yelled out 'you're at half a length' which came as a bit of a shock, as we'd all assumed we were holding station. Imogen made some gorgeous lines (even Clifton approved) - these took at least 1/2 length off Eddies - then a final bumps call and we had them. We bumped them on Grassy.

It has been an honour and a delight to row for W2 this term. May Bumps has been brilliant!! :)
