W2 Battle Hard
After yesterday's..."race"...W2 were keen to show what they were actually made of, and began with a purposeful row up with some nice practice starts. The sun finally emerged while waiting at station and W2 were ready to race.
The start was good and not too panicked - I was half tempted to give a whistle on Sidney. It would have been optimistic, but they were certainly gaining. So were Christ's though and they pressed hard all along First Post Reach. Some good lines from Imogen and some bad ones from Christ's, combined with some gritty pushes, saw Christ's fall back beyond canvass and by the time we were round Grassy we had a whistle on Sidney, who were tiring. Christ's began to pull back along Plough reach though and this time were not going to be deprived. A last desperate attempt to gain on Sidney was not quite enough and we were caught outside the Plough.
W2 acquitted themselves well in a tough race and have given promising signs for the end of the week.
