W1 - down but not out!

Lent Bumps (Thursday)

Second day of bumps and with the first day having not gone quite to plan we were even more determined to prove ourselves.

We took to the water and the first two starts were clean and powerful. The row up was tidy with Emilys calls for extra pressure being responded to well.

At the start we spun and pulled in. The bank party's work was tidy, we allowed more time to complete everything and it was a lot less panicked. As a result our start was great, we pushed into Newnham and eased away from Peterhouse.

Unfortunately, as Magdalene got within a canvas of Peterhouse, Peterhouse put in a massive push and broke Magdalene whilst pushing into us! We responded quickly with a well timed destroy call but with the whistles motivating them Peterhouse were flying towards us. All three of us moved into first post corner, pretty close together when Peterhouse bumped us.

It was a disappointing outcome but once again the rowing wasn't bad. Our start is really strong and I think we need to use that more. I really believe that this is a mental game, we held station with Newnham today which shows that we had a good row. We need to relax and keep calm and push for a strong row over tomorrow having given everything.
