I Have Rowed Before
"...the symbol of the eight, as hardly any other grouping can display, are the interacting forces. None above, none down. No egoism, no single-handed attempts, no star airs, no deviating. No illusory acting, no rivalry. Alliance, discipline, consonance, responsibility, asceticism, sacrifice, friendship. The eight simply is the ultimate CREW..."
Great! If you have rowed before, we will integrate you straight into Selwyn’s senior squad. Let the Men's or Women's Captains know in advance if you have any questions.
The top crews at Selwyn College Boat Club take their rowing seriously, so if you're into rowing, you will be able to find similarly competitive people to train and race with. SCBC gives experienced rowers the opportunity to compete against other top College crews in the Bumps and in all the College races throughout the year on the Cam, as well as in major events around England including Henley and the Head of the River Race.
You can use Selwyn's ergometers and weights free of charge for land training. The College even has a range of small boats available for students' use, including a single sculls and pairs and even two coxed IVs. We will encourage and support you if you have ambitions to trial for the University's varsity crews - CUBC, CUWBC and CULRC.
We are looking forward to meeting you.
