How Do I Get Started?

M1 - Head of the River RegattaM1 - Head of the River Regatta

1.

A really easy way to get started is to come to the Freshers' Fair in Freshers' week- the rowing stand will be easy to spot (look for the oars!) and we'll let you know what's happening.

2.

There will also be a Freshers' squash (to meet senior rowers) and a Boathouse BBQ, where you can try rowing for yourself (and have a burger too)! Look out for posters and people wearing SCBC stash in freshers' week.

If you miss any of these events, however, you can still get involved:

a.

Email anyone on the committee - click here - or sign up for an account here and head down here to post on the forums!

b.

Put a note in the pigeon hole of anyone on the committee.

c.

Ask just about anyone in college - most people will be able to help you or point you in the direction of someone who can.

No commitment is required in the first few weeks whilst we teach you the basics. We'll then organize you into crews for the rest of term to train for (and take part in) races. The opportunities for success are almost limitless - last year both men's and women's boats did exceptionally well and some of those members went on to race in the top senior crews!

We are looking forward to meeting you.
